In the spring of 2007, Frank Maguire climbed down a ladder into four concrete walls and a dirt floor. That was the beginning of Maguires Family & Friends — and, in many ways, the beginning of downtown Senoia's revitalization. Frank, Paul Lombardi, and Scott Tigchelaar saw something in that raw space that most people wouldn't have. Frank had grown up in the restaurant business, carried strong Irish roots, and had always wanted to own a pub. Senoia wanted a casual dining anchor. It was a perfect match — and eighteen years later, it still is.
Walk down the brick-lined steps at 42 Main Street and the first thing that stops you is the fireplace. The mantel was hand-carved from an oak tree that fell behind Riverwood Studios in 2007. Maguires opened its doors on St. Patrick's Day 2008. Copper ceilings, red brick walls, solid oak bar and furniture. It's the kind of place that feels like it's always been there, the sort of atmosphere you'd find in Savannah, Boston, or Chicago — and now, right here in Coweta County.
The menu carries that same heritage. Recipes handed down from Frank's grandparents, who immigrated from Ireland — home-cooked corned beef, lamb, roast beef, scratch-made sauces, gravies, and dressings. Every piece of cod hand-dipped in homemade beer batter for the Fish n' Chips that regulars swear by.
